This is my beautiful new niece… after waiting for her arrival with 52 hours of grueling labour, she was placed in her patient mamas arms. She was well worth the wait! As you can tell in these few frames, daddy was a complete baby hog and head over heels for her. We are so fortunate to have our family grow and very happy for the new parents. We love you both so much and looking forward to watching your sweet baby girl blossom.

It is baby season for us with the arrival of spring! We welcome all the new little miracles that visit with us – you each have a special place within us and it is a joy to work with you.

We had the very fortunate opportunity to go to Mexico last week and photograph our good friends wedding. It was a time spent that we will never forget… we had some serious good times and met some really nice people along the way… just giving a shout out to all the guests that made their way out!

Cheryl & Kevin… we are lucky to know you and had enjoyed every minute spent with you. Kindness is beyond what you both bring into this world. We are happy you found each other for your life journey and may you both have many, many happy years together. We love you dearly.

This was also a special trip to us, as we are celebrating our anniversary this spring when we also got married near Playa del Carmen 11 years ago. Yeah!

Hello Everybody! When looking through our calendar today, I am blown away quite literally about how close we are to our spring + summer season…. tis the season for warm weather! It feels like we have been hibernating forever and it’s time to shake off the snow. I do enjoy every season, but when warm weather hits… I get inspired every time. This year we have plans to do many ideas… some business… some personal… and some with a mix of both – lol! I must say, I love being creative and so lucky to do so. If I had a job title officially, I would want it to read… I Create. I am sure I can get away with that… ?!

Along with many other things on the go for us, I wanted to touch base with our seasonal Mini Sessions! This is the Brade Family from last summer during our signature mini beach sessions. I will be posting our session dates for this year shortly through Facebook (make sure you connect with us there) with locations, styles and our amazing pricing for these special sessions.

On another note, many hugs to all the new mommy’s and daddy’s out there! We have worked with some special newborns lately and I hope to post a few later….

I just wanted to share one frame. Laurie invited me out to her home for family photographs as a retirement gift from the U of C. It was a gift that was more meaningful than anything else she could of asked for and when I came out that afternoon, I knew why. Their home presented a timeline of family history. It was glorious and made me smile as I see many homes have that family wall of photographs dating back from decades upon decades of time with family members. Even when I visit my family home, I see walls of photos placed together in mismatched frames, awkward spacing, etc., but delights me to the fact that I know I am home and belong. These walls show who we are and where we come from. We see similarities within each other… we watch the growth of a family… we remember ones who are no longer with us…

Walking away that day, I left with an even higher appreciation and value of family – especially my own. Thank you to my mom for her continued efforts in updating our family walls and even if the frames and photos are a blend of 70′s style to now… I enjoy them throughly. Have a wonderful Family Day this weekend…!

Having beauty within and letting it show through is pretty amazing when it comes to pregnancy. I know they say some have a certain ‘glow’ when expecting, and I think Amy has been touched by this statement. Amy – you are beautiful… continue to have a wonderful pregnancy and delivery.

We are entering into our 8th year here at Shima Studios. Sometimes it is hard to believe, just looking back on all of our moments as a business throughout that time together. We took alot of ups and downs to get where we are, but would not change a thing as it made us cultivate ourselves into who we are today. I can honestly say, it has been the best adventure… “wink”.

Without further adieu, we welcome another wonderful baby boy into our world… hugs to you all!
